RI State Constitutional Convention
Fiscal Responsibility, Government Accountability, Return to Constitutional Values and Principles
IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Although still concerned about the potential impact on individual rights that a constitutional convention could create, the Rhode Island Tea Party PAC revises its position on the state constitutional convention.
Providence, RI - The Rhode Island Tea Party announced today they are revising their position on a constitutional convention.
Mike Puyana, RI Tea Party President stated, "The state of the state in Rhode Island is disgraceful and only getting worse. Despite the efforts of liberty minded groups like the RI Tea Party, the political insiders and the special interest clearly have no intention of ending the same and obviously failed policies that make life here in Rhode Island so difficult. In addition, the shortsightedness of all too many voters who are apparently willing to sacrifice their children's future for some short term financial security seems plentiful."
The Rhode Island Tea Party remains concerned about the possible risks to our fundamental freedoms involved with a constitutional convention. However, the organization announced today they have determined that the opportunity and the need for the voice of the people to be heard over the objections of the deeply entrenched special interests is far too important to overlook."
Mr. Puyana continued by emphasizing, "Can it really get any worse for the Ocean State? Rhode Island politicians are working right now to:
-
Create a political monopoly on your health care with HealthSourceRI.
-
Tax us and our children for not buying the products and services of the huge corporations that own them.
-
Drive out even more jobs by increasing the cost of labor and doing business in our state.
-
Pay the bills of multimillionaire bond holders and investors on the backs of families trying to make ends meet in the Ocean State, such as 38Studios."
Mr. Puyana concluded by saying, "In order to stop the continued abuse of the citizenry by the RI General Assembly crony corporatists, political insiders, and special interests, a constitutional convention is a measure that should be acted upon now before it is too late. The voice and best interests of the people must come first, even if there are risks involved."
The RI Tea Party encourages all liberty minded and good government suppoters to stand up and vote YES to a constitutional convention in November. It is imperative that citizens volunteer their time and effort to helping with this endeavor. Supporters can learn more by emailing the RI TeaParty at info@riteaparty.com or calling (401) 280-1093.
