The video below is proof of the newest attack on private property rights occurring right now with the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management’s (RIDEM) latest scheme to acquire farm land from its owners. Our family farms are under attack because it's the quickest and easiest means for the RI government to seize control of large portions of land throughout our state.
This land grab is perfectly in concert with the master plan outlined in RI's State Guide Plan (A.K.A. RhodeMap, renamed - RI Rising) quoted here:
“Adopt revised state legislation for the Transfer of Development Rights (TDR) to facilitate strategic, increased economic activity and housing development. Use RIDEM draft legislation as a starting point.”
Don’t think this is what is happening?
On August 17th, the RIDEM held a “Workshop” in which the public was welcome to come and ask questions and discuss the plan. As we have seen again and again, the state central planners and the politicians who appoint them will say or do anything, including flat out LIE, to fool the public into believing this is for our benefit.
It is not.
Thankfully, State Representative Sherry Roberts took the time to read the documentation and attend the meeting. Her leadership and courage exposed the DEM planners for the deceitful traitors of American values they are.
Watch here while Representative Roberts catches the DEM planners trying to mislead the attendees into believing that this plan is not part of Commerce Corporation’s RhodeMapRI plan:
State Representative Sherry Roberts: "You said this plan has nothing to do with RhodeMap. correct?"
RI DEM Planners: "That's correct" [The LIE]
State Representative Sherry Roberts: "In your paperwork provided to us here in Rule #7 it states that farms for purchase will be selected by DEM staff and shall meet the following criteria where #4 says: 'lands must be consistent with local comprehensive plans and state guide plans'."
Can anyone here tell me what the state guide plan is?
State Representative Sherry Roberts: There you have it
This is an utter disgrace, and shows the complete disdain and lack of respect the political elite have for the citizens of Rhode Island.
Unless you plan on moving to another state, a state that will likely be in the same situation only years from now, we must stand and fight. Please give all you can to PRARI: time, money, and effort as well as attend the next public workshop on September 7th. We must save our state for future generations before it is too late.
The state planners think you are either too stupid or too lazy to stop them.
Are they correct?
